It's great that Uncle Joe's age now equals his golf score. He's a worthy opponent even if he does
spend 2 minutes setting up that perfect shot on the green and then use the 1 iron. But what I
always liked best about Uncle Joe is how he likes to have fun. He has spent a lot of money over the years on video-games, X-rated movies, internet porn, gambling, tobacco, alcohol and loose women. Sadly, he wasted the rest of his money. But when he wasn't reading the Bible or sitting in church Uncle Joe created some great memories for his nephews and I'm sure for his own kids and all those who know him. Much like his bookie and every house of ill repute in Wake County, we are much richer to have known him. Although I haven't met Sue in person, she seems to be one of the best things to happen in his life. Maybe one day they'll stand before a judge as he pronounces them drunk and disorderly. As you blow out that birthday torch you do it with the
thoughts of many friends and relatives. I would say you're first 70 years were a success.
Happy Birthday.

A big thank you to everyone from 70th birthday boy Joe Jarvis
I want to thank everyone who made my 70th birthday so special with all your birthday wishes. Some of your comments were highly bloated and inaccurate; some were painfully deficient in their lack of verbose praise on a grandiose occasion for such a deserving person!
Yours humbly,
Joe Jarvis

Happy Big 7-0 Birthday Joe!
I found a few photos that remind me of fun times with the Jarvis family! As others have stated, you love your family and having them around you has always been a very important part of your life. With your sense of humor in mind, I wrote a limerick about one of the photos.
Have a wonderful year being 70!
Love,
Melanie
We often went bowling with Joe
He loved having his family in tow.
Gutter ball, strike, or spare
He'd Hi-Five in the air [see photo]
We laughed a lot 'til time to go!
Your "Alley Cat" lady friends send their best wishes, too!
Some more bowling photos to make you smile!
Cheers! (Sorry we're missing Katie!)

Happy Birthday from Monica and David
Dearest Joe -
You introduced David & I to birds of NC ....do you remember it started with that lil suet holder gizmo....and life for us has not been bird free since...suet of all types, feeders, and all types of feeders, bird books & seasons of migrations & ways to keep pesky SQUIRRELS outta the food! Thanks for your friendship and sharing Sue ... You have a sweet & good spirit about you Joe, ....Peace & Joy this wonderful New Year & Happy Birthday
Monica and David , Bird lovers...;)
A Happy Birthday from the Collier Gang
Have broom handle, will travel. Seeing Joe chase geese from the neighborhood, I'm jealous of his youthful vigor. Joe Jarvis - making the world safe for "goose poop haters" one throw at a time! On a more serious note, we really appreciate how you always take an interest in how our boys are doing, always ask about them and always remember them on your trips. Thanks, neighbor. Happy seven-oh! The Colliers
Happy Birthday from Mary Kate!
Dear Joe, Congratulations on your big day tomorrow! We are so glad you have joined our family. We enjoy all of the portraits of you with famous artists- finally we've connected with someone who travels in social circles with the likes of Van Cliburn. The games you have introduced us to are perfect for our family. They enable us all to fight our battles in an acceptable environment. And who ever would have thought there was a more avid birdwatcher than Oscar? Wish we could be with you to celebrate but it just means we have to get together again soon. Best Wishes from Mary Kate

Even the UNC Tarheels know it is Joe's Birthday!
Roy: "Michael, Dean, did you guys hear it is Joe Jarvis's Birthday?"
Michael: "I did. He is 70!!! Man that is old."
Dean: "Hey, hey, now, that is not old! He is just very mature like me."
Thanks, Joe, for all your help coaching the Tarheels over the years. It is always nice to have someone at home keep us on track. Keep up the coaching in Cary!
Happy 70th Birthday.

The Big 7-0
Dear Joe,
We are all super excited to spend your 70th Birthday with you!
Love, Katie, Ethan, Winston, Melanie, Beth, and Sue!
Happy...
7 Decades??? Were you friends with the dinosaurs? What was Jesus like? I've always wanted to know how to use an abacus!! Was Santa around then? Joan Rivers? Who was your favorite caveman? Antiquus! (It means old in Latin as I'm sure you know.) Does Webster call you for words and their meanings...well now, clearly that is not true!!!
No matter how old you are...or get, we will certainly love you all the same. You are a gem in our family, like no one else. Never duplicated or imitate. Lots of love and great wishes to you for another 70 years!
We are all super excited to spend your 70th Birthday with you!
Love, Katie, Ethan, Winston, Melanie, Beth, and Sue!

Nephew Jeffrey "Ace" Myers, Ph.D.
I have never met another person with such a breadth of knowledge and genuine interest in so many subjects as Uncle Joe. It is one thing to walk into a crowded room and strike up a meaningful conversation with a random individual, and quite another to have the social skills to actually do it, but Uncle Joe can do both with sincerity. As kids, my brothers and I always looked forward to the times when Uncle Joe came to visit. He listened to us and took interest in our pastimes of coin collecting, ham radio, astronomy, radio controlled airplanes, music, and whatever else. Kids know the difference between sincerity and B.S., but if there was any doubt; Uncle Joe let me take three of his kids flying when I was a teenaged private pilot. Doesn't get any more genuine than that.
I could go on, and believe me I want to, but all I can really express is the selfishness of what Uncle Joe means to me and my family. If we are half as important to Uncle Joe as he is to us, he is truly blessed.
Happy Birthday Uncle Joe!
Love,
Ace, Nancy, Abby, and Soren (and Guss "the cat")
Joe always has his camera...
